In response to Master Cheng Yen’s appeal, the founder of Nepal International Buddhist Society, Bhante Maitri, decided to cooperate with Tzu Chi in a vegetarian food offering activity. The activity is to encourage more members of the public to become vegetarians and also to offer food to poor patients to keep them from hunger. Furthermore, Bhante Maitri also invited other monasteries from the Lumbini Garden to participate in this grand event. Since the kitchen appliances in the free clinic are incomplete, the nuns and Tzu Chi volunteers travelled to town to purchase kitchen utensils and ingredients.
